Episode 26 – The Habs Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough

This is just plain fun.  Somehow, some way, this team has taken Montreal by complete surprise and absolutely captured the imagination of the entire hockey world.  It seems no matter what they face, they find the way to bounce back from it.  Heart epitomized.  But now with both Markov and Spacek out, facing the Staal-less Pittsburgh Penguins, they’re up against an arguably bigger challenge than even the Washington Capitals.  Can they really keep it going?

Gents, do you honestly believe that stiff, inflexible JM had an epiphany which caused him to suddenly start calling time-outs, adjust strategy in-game and shorten his bench?

He didn’t for 82 regular season games!

As poor as Versus is as a source of any hockey information the Kirk Muller slant is more than likely very true.

After seeing the Vancouver-Chicago game 4, I suspect Price to Vancouver ( left coast homeboy) may be more than likely! Luongo can’t stop a beachball!

PS. Used to live and work in Ayala Alabang in MM.

Roy,
Great post! I also think Muller is playing a bigger role than we give him credit for. Interesting, amid al l the Guy Boucher talk, no one talks about Muller as a head coach, even though he’s been an assistant for a few years now and has won some cups. And he definitely gets the respect of the players. But I’ve been watching JM on the bench, and during these playoffs, he has been active, more emotional. And I like the strategies he’s been using, especially for game 5: more forecheck. The Habs had that game.

Muller will surely get his day as a head coach and is no doubt learning a TON from watching JM. I definitely think that Muller has been the key to keeping the fire under the players lit. Though I tend to feel that a head coach needs to be more of an authoritative figure than Muller seems to be. He’s quite perfect in his current role – but what do I know…

I’ll tell you what I DO know – I predicted from the start that this series would go 7.

Hey Roy do you ever go back to Manila?

I certainly hope that Kirk Muller is around for the next few seasons. He is the catalyst between the stiff and boring hockey style of JM and what we saw in the latter half of game 6!

These days I work in Russia and live in Thailand when not at work so to answer your question, yes I have been back to MM several times and I am now convinced that the traffic there is exponentially worse than Bangkok. South Super Highway to Makati in daylight is almost an all day
voyage.
